Welcome to Tiny Trots!

Horsemanship & Riding Lessons with Ms. Mags

Here you will find a short bio & photos of each of Tiny Trots Lesson Horses & Ponies

Pippin - "Peregrin Took My Pony" aka "A Hobbit Horse"

Pippin is the smallest memeber of the Tiny Trots herd. He is a 7 year old (Birthday: May 20th 2006) chesnut tobiano/splash Pinto (color) Shetland Pony (breed) gelding (neutered aka "gelded" male), standing 10.2hh(each hand is 4 inches). Shetland ponies are actaully measured in inches, not hands like other horses and ponies; so we say that Pippin is 40" tall at the withers.

Relative to their size, Shetland Ponies are the strongest equines in the world, as they were originally bred in the Shetland Isles as to carry heavy loads. Because of their small size and large strength, they were used for many years working in the mines, hauling out the large, heavy loads of coal.      These days, they live happier lives as chidren's ponies. They make the ideal first mount for children because of their gentle, curious, and willing nature; and parents often feel more confortable putting their smaller children on a smaller pony. Pippin is perfect for this, and loves his job.

Even though Shetland Ponies can carry up to 7stone, or 130lbs, Pippin perfers his riders to weigh 80-90lbs or less. He LOVES the kids, and will stand to be groomed, have his mane and tail brushed and braided, and LOVES to be fed treats. He also loves to be pampered, painted, and decorated for shows.

Pippin gives pony rides, rides independantly (even with the little ones) in lessons; he walks, trots, canters, and even jumps! Pippin is also being trained to pull a cart. He can come to your house or other location for birthday parties and other special events. He is our "Picasso Pony" and enjoys having the kids paint him with brushes and finger-paints to create a colorful masterpiece!

Pippin is currently searching for an acomplished child rider (under 4ft and 90lbs) to free lease him and work on his jumping under saddle. Must be able to canter/jump or be READY to learn (lessons included). I'm Hoping to find an exchange situation where your child gets to ride, and my pony gets miles and jumping practice- Its WIN-WIN! Looking for his perfect match. Great opportunity for your young equestrain to ride & show a flashy, talented & lovable pony for FREE!!

Pippin's color is purple, and his lessons will be labeled in purple on the webcalender.

Lexi - "EternaLextacy" aka "Strawberry Shortcake"

Lexi is a 6 year old (Birthday: May 1st  2007) bay-dun(color) quarter horse (breed)  mare (female), standing 13.3hh (each hand is 4 inches). Her formal name is "EternaLextacy" - but when the little kids show her she goes by the name "Strawberry Shortcake".

Lexi is such a good girl who loves to be groomed, petted, and fed treats (out of a bucket). She also loves to give kisses, and drink gatorade out of Ms. Mags Camelbak! She is quite the character.

Lexi has a great mind; she is a very safe, sound, kind, and understanding teacher for the children to learn to ride on, and is a quick learner herself.

Lexi gives beginner through advanced lessons. She will give pony-rides to the littlest tots; and still provides a challenge for riders practicing more advanced skills, such as patterns, collection/extension, bending, and jumping courses.

Lexi has been on numerous trail rides and has taken home ribbons from local shows & speed events. She really takes care of her rider and is currently in training to be a hunter pony. She is jumping 3' consistantly, and has the potential to go higher with more training.

Lexi is currently available for partial lease, as well as day leases. Leasers need to be flexable around her lesson schedule.

Lexi's color is pink, and her lessons will be labeled in pink on the web calender.

Chip - "Chief Chippowau" (Ms. Mags' personal horse)

Chip (Chippie, Chi-Wa, Mama's boy) is a 22 year old (Birthday: April 25th 1991) tricolor bay tobiano Pinto (color) half-arabian (breed)  gelding, standing 14.3hh. Ms. Mags brought Chip down from CT to FL with her when she moved here for college in 2006, and since then he has enjoyed many trail rides, horseshows, and speed events. Once he trusts his rider, Chip will do just about anything he is asked.

Chip is great on the ground, and just like the rest of Tiny Trots horses he will stand for hours to be groomed and loved on; bathtime is his favorite!

My Chippie-boy is great for teaching kids to lunge a horse, as well as other ground-work/general horsemanship lessons such as wrapping legs/putting on splint boots, horse science, proper grooming & first aid, and horse body language. In lessons, Chip is for advanced and confident riders ONLY, as he is a high spirited boy who loves to GO GO GO.

Chip is also my original "Painted Pinto" (Before Pippin came along as the 'Picasso Pony') and still enjoys being finger-painted on and turned into a living work of art. He also enjoys his treats- carrots and apples are his favorite.

Chip is available for full, partial, or day leases to experianced riders ONLY. Leasers need to be flexable around his light lesson schedule and existing day leases.

Chip's color is teal/turquoise, and his lessons will be labeled in teal/turquoise on the web calender.

CharlieB - "G & S Charlie Brown"

CharlieB is the newest member of the Tiny Trots herd. He is a 16 year old, brown-bay pinto. He is 46" tall, or 11.2hh. He is my little gentleman and ex-Stud Muffin. CharlieB came to me as a stallion, but he was gelded on Nov. 9th 2014.

Ms. Mags plans to personally show CharlieB in Shetland In-Hand classes, and we have been working very hard with his harness training, and one day soon he will be ready to pull a cart! We have dreams of one day competing in CDE.

I have also been getting him ready to give pony rides, and he is nearly ready to be a lead-line pony. CharlieB has been attending parties & special events for photos and petting/grooming/painting, and loves the attention. As soon as he finishes his saddle training he will be available for lessons for riders under 100lbs. He is catching on very quickly, so it shouldn't be long at all.

G & S Charlie Brown is a son of Red Rock Tomorrow's Kid Lee out of Bullseye's Wild Thing. He has good Shetland bloodlines, including  double Kid Lee, Queen Anns Jet, Rip's Masterpiece, & Ballerina. He had a successful breeding career with Coral Castle Shetland Ponies, producing over 60 foals - many of which now have successful show records. His full sister, G & S Molly Brown, has many championship titles.

If you would like your lesson with CharlieB- just tell Ms. Mags and she will give you directions to his barn, currenty located in Pinellas Park. CharlieB's color is Red, and his lessons will be labeled in Red on the web calender.

The Tiny Trots Herd

When the Tiny Trots horses & ponies are not doing their job teaching kids to ride and care for them, they are out in the field with their buddies, running around playing, grazing, and just being horses.
